Inside Robert Redford’s $7.5m Napa estate

Hollywood actor Robert Redford is selling his sprawling estate in Napa, set across 10-acres of St. Helena wine country, for US$7.5 million.

Redford and his wife, painter Sibylle Szaggars Redford, purchased the property in 2004, and are now selling it to move close to San Francisco and family.

Known as Danza del Sol, the property overlooks the region’s famed vineyards and boasts three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, a detached studio with a bedroom and bathroom, a multi-car garage and a 500-square-foot workshop.

A separate wing on the main floor houses both a combination office/library and the master suite, which was clearly built with luxury in mind. An entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows in the master bedroom overlook the trees and valley below; the suite also features a sitting area with a bow-fronted corner fireplace, a walk-in closet, and a spacious bathroom with both a deep-soaking standalone tub and a sauna. Two other bedrooms nestled on the second floor share a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom.

According to the listing, by Steven Mavromihalis of Pacific Union: “[Robert] and his lovely wife have enjoyed Danza del Sol for more than a decade: Resting, rejuvenating, refreshing, resurrecting their spirits, and regaining their balance, whenever they needed to get away from it all.”

The compound also features a handful of outbuildings on the property including an artist’s studio and two garages, one of which includes a workshop, for a total of 5,255 square feet of living space. There’s also a pool, redwood hot tub, raised-bed vegetable garden, and a cabana in the resort-worthy backyard.
