The 7 Premier League stadiums with the highest mark-ups on beer, ranked

The Premier League season kicked off once again last month, which can only mean one thing: match-day pints.

The price of a pint in the UK has risen by 13p in the past year to £3.60, a price that a recent YouGov survey found is 60p too expensive for the average Bfritish pub-goer.

But while premiums on pints differ from city to city, the mark-ups are almost always higher at events such as festivals and football matches.

Of course, this isn’t always the case. Betting specialists OddsMonkey have collated data on the average cost of a beer in the UK’s 20 Premier League stadiums, and compared their markups to the pints in their city centres to determine whether or not its worth leaving it till the last minute to go through the turnstiles.

Pint price inside stadium: £4.80

Chelsea was the most expensive stadium for a pint overall, but west London is already known for its affluent locals and high prices, so while the area does feature in our markup ranking, it’s not the worst offender.

Could you imagine the outcry is there was a difference between the two?

3. Watford

Pint price outside of stadium: £2.90

Pint price inside stadium: £4.10

Watford’s stadium price is cheaper than Stamford Bridge, but the commuter town’s lower average cost of a beer means that it may be worth leaving it until the players walk on to get through the turnstiles.

2. Wolverhampton

Pint price outside of stadium: £2.77

Pint price inside stadium: £4.00

Wolverhampton came out as one of the cheapest cities in the League for a pre-match pint, but a beer at half-time will set you back an extra £1.23.
