A second Sushisamba is coming to Covent Garden

Samba Brands’ second Sushisamba will open its doors in Covent Garden next month.

The second site, which follows on from the strong performance of Sushisamba in Liverpool Street, will be housed of the Grade II listed Market Building.

The bar and restaurant famed for its fusion of Peruvian, Brazilian and Japanese cuisine will take up the entire upper level of the east side of the Opera Terrace with a 9,000sqft dining area, with interiors designed by Antwerp-based firm Too Many Agencies.

“The history, culture and revitalized energy of Covent Garden is deeply inspiring,” says John Um, the restaurant group’s corporate chef.

“We see the iconic nature of Covent Garden as a way for us to push our culinary creativity even further and put a fresh twist on this location that will individualise it from our other locations. Sushisamba Covent Garden will have its own caché.”

Menu items specific to the new site will include dishes such as pork belly with butterscotch miso, Scallops with vanilla, jalapeño, mango and aji amarillo, and Octopus with aji panca.

The drinks menu, overseen by the group’s head of cocktail and spirit development Rich Woods, will include an “expansive” sake list as well as a collection of Japanese and South American spirits such as shochu, pisco and cachaça. Woods also teamed up with chef Adam Handling to work on the cocktail card at his new site in Hoxton.
