US wine estate with 5,000-bottle cellar on sale for $25m

A palatial 100-acre wine estate that boasts a 5,000 bottle wine cellar and 20-capacity car museum has been put on the market for US$25 million.

10 Serenity Lane is located in Alamo, around 30 miles from San Francisco, and is surrounded by eight acres of “mature” vineyards and also features an underground wine cellar with the capacity to hold up to 5,000 bottles. 

The main house is spread across12,000 square feet, in the style of a French chateau, and features 12 bedrooms, 13 full baths, and three half baths, imported limestone fireplaces and crystal chandeliers.

“It is not at all an exaggeration to call it Bordeaux in Alamo,” its realtor, Steven Mavromihalis, who holds the listing alongside Sherry Chaput of Pacific Union International, confidently states on its profile.

The property also comes with a “car museum” that can hold up to 20 cars, a music room, multiple outside dining areas, a one-bedroom guesthouse and outdoor pool.

While this property has been listed for $25m, earlier this year another newly developed wine estate in Napa’s AVA Rutherford was put on the market for almost double that figure at $42 million, which if achieved would make it the most expensive property ever sold in the region.

According to Forbes, a Sonoma home currently holds the record for the highest price achieved for a non-winery property in the region, selling for $35 million in 2010, while The Sloan Estate, a commercial vineyard with a chateau-style home on the grounds, sold to an investor group in 2011 for $40 million.
