Domäne Wachau joins Gonzalez Byass UK

Austrian producer Domäne Wachau has named Gonzalez Byass to be its UK distributor from this September.

Domäne Wachau is the largest producer in the Austrian region, its 440 hectares accounting for 30% of the entire plantings in the area.

Farmed in an “environmentally conscious approach”, the winery has also enjoyed substantial investment of late.

Winery director Roman Horvath MW said that over the last 15 years: “we have overseen a re-structuring of the winery and the introduction of a new vineyard quality programme.

“We are just about to finish the highest investment ever made at the winery, establishing a new state-of-the-art centralised reception and vinification facility which we will be inaugurating during the 2018 vintage.”

“Export has always been important for us and will be even more so in the future. I am delighted to be working with Gonzalez Byass to move to the next level and reach even more consumers. We already work well with Gonzalez Byass in the USA. In the UK we are joining a portfolio of premium estates and know that the team at GBUK will also be great ambassadors for Domäne Wachau in the UK.”

Martin Skelton, managing director of Gonzalez Byass UK said: “We have been blown away by the amazing quality of Domäne Wachau’s wines. They are a fantastic addition to our portfolio and we know they will be enthusiastically received by our customers throughout the trade.”
