Brewdog revamps Angel pub with home-brew kits as Australian brewery gets green light

Brewdog is adding home-brewing kits to one of its north London pubs, allowing guests to make their own craft beer when it re-opens next month.

Brewdog has hired a new CFO as the firm continues to expand in the UK and overseas.

The pub in Angel, which closed last year for refurbishment, will open its doors again on 1 June complete with four 20L home-brewing kits, allowing patrons to create their own signature serve.

To mark the re-launch, the first 50 people to visit the new bar will be entered into a prize draw, with a chance to win tickets to one-off brewdays, free beer for a year, and a tour of the drinks maker’s brewery in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

The news comes after Brewdog confirmed plans to build a new $30m brewery in Brisbane, Australia.

The project was given the green light by Brisbane City Council on Monday. Construction on the building is expected to start as soon as July, and due for completion by the end of the year.

The new site, which will be used brew the beer giant’s signature Punk IPA as well as collaborations with local breweries, will include a taproom and restaurant when it opens its doors to the public in the first quarter of 2019.

“The craft beer scene in Australia is something we are hugely proud to be a part of,” said a statement on the brewer’s website.

“We’re super psyched that the authorities in Queensland have given their support to what we are planning for the people of Australia – their green light means we can now begin the six-month project to build a brewery on the banks of the Murarrie.”
