Lea & Sandeman granted Royal Warrant

UK wine merchant Lea & Sandeman has been granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen.

The news coincides with the 30th anniversary of the London-based merchant.

Co-founder Charles Lea commented: “I am extremely happy about the Grant of the Royal Warrant, which is a tribute to all the staff of Lea & Sandeman.

“There is of course always going to be a tinge of sadness that Patrick Sandeman* is not here to share the news, which would have delighted him, but for all the team this is a testament to their hard work and dedication over the last five years.”

Founded in 1988 with a store on the Fulham Road, Lea & Sandeman now has an additional three shops in Kensington, Barnes and Chiswick.

In addition to retailing, it offers Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône and Italian wines en primeur and offers a range of other services to clients including cellar-planning and brokering.

With the granting of the warrant, Lea & Sandeman joins many other trade institutions that likewise hold the honour including fellow fine wine merchants BBR, J&B, Walker & Woodhouse as well as producers such as Pol Roger, Graham’s and Taylor’s Ports and Camel Valley, which was the first English sparkling wine to receive a warrant and as recently as the end of last month.
