Latest wines from Giacosa released

The latest vintages wines from the famous Barolo estate Bruno Giacosa were released this week and will be poured at Armit Wines’ Italian tasting next month.

Released on Tuesday 13 February through UK agent Armit, the latest wines include the: Barbaresco ‘Rabaja’ 2014; Barolo ‘Falletto’ 2014; Barbaresco 2015 ‘Asili’ and the “hotly anticipated” red label (ie a ‘Riserva’) Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto Riserva 2012.

The release from the estate of course comes after Bruno himself passed away last month aged 88.

Having stepped away from the day-to-day running of the estate in 2006 and handed over to his daughter, Bruna, Bruno maintained a close interest in the wines produced and considered the 2014 vintage in Barolo particularly “exceptional” and worthy of the estate’s much sought-after riservas.

Kirsten Kilby, managing director of Armit Wines, as well as paying tribute to “the maestro of Nebbiolo” and all he did for the Italian region, added: “The new releases from Giacosa are always eagerly anticipated, and rightly so. Giacosa wines are found in the finest wine collections and treasured by the few who are able to secure a case from the small quantities available on release. A testament to Bruna’s ability to produce wines of outstanding quality, we know that our customers will go on to enjoy the wines from this amazing winery for many years to come.”

In addition to the headline releases, the 2017 Roero Arneis, 2017 Dolcetto d’Alba, 2016 Barbera d’Alba and 2016 Nebbiolo Valmaggiore are also out.

All of the wines will be at the Armit Wines Italian tasting in London on 6 March.
