Sparflex takes over US wine foil maker Maverick
French group Sparflex, a leading manufacturer of products used in wine packaging, has taken over US wine capsule-maker Maverick.
Based in Ukiah, California, Maverick makes PVC capsules, and polylam foils and capsules for still and sparkling wines in the U.S. wine packaging industry.
Sparflex told the drinks business the acquisition forms part of a boarder bid to expand its US operations.
Around the same time last year, Sparflex also secured a UK distribution deal with Rankin Brothers, which supplies closures to the beers, wines and spirits bottling industries and also owns cork forests in Portugal.
Michel Soutiran, President of Sparflex said: “We welcome Maverick Enterprises to the Sparflex family of leading brands. We’re determined to strengthen business development in the U.S. and with this acquisition we are well positioned to offer customers better access to local production operations and service.”
