Police appeal for witnesses after theft of £20,000 worth of whiskey in M4 service station
Police have released CCTV footage of a late night heist where more than £20,000 worth of Irish whiskey was stolen from a lorry at a motorway services.
The incident occurred around 1am on Sunday 15 October at a service station on the M4.
The thieves targeted a lorry which had parked in the service station earlier on Saturday evening. Around 1am, the driver left his vehicle.
CCTV footage showed the driver walking to the rear of his vehicle where he could be seen having an altercation with three men, Get Reading reports.
Police said that several boxes containing bottles of Irish whiskey were removed from the lorry before being transferred to a long wheel-based transit van.
Thames Valley Police are now calling for witnesses to come forward in a bid to identify the culprits.
Investigating officer Police Constable Kathryn Tough said: “We would urge anyone who recognises the people in the images or the van or anyone who has been offered bottles of whiskey from an unspecified source to get in touch as a matter of urgency on 101.”
