Brewdog has launched a new beer to protest Trump’s climate change denial
Brewdog is living up to its punk credentials, launching a new beer to attack Trump’s lukewarm attitude to climate change.
The irreverent Scottish brewery-turned global drinks giant has partnered with environmental charity 10:10 Climate Action to “raise awareness and spark debate” on global warming.
“Make Earth Great Again” takes aim at the US government’s decision to quit the Paris Agreement and Trump’s tepid view of climate change research.
The new saison — which is fermented at a higher temperature than other beer styles — contains ingredients sourced from areas most impacted by global warming, including water from the Arctic ice caps, and Arctic cloudberries.

The notorious teetotaller has drawn criticism for his denial of the affects global warming, with even Champagne producer Bruno Palliard weighing-in to call the US president “stupid.”
Speaking to the drinks business in September, Palliard said: “Global warming is happening for sure and you’d have to be as stupid as Donald Trump to say that it isn’t. It’s frightening for the next generation as the weather is getting harder and harder to predict.
“I’m making wine differently today than the way I was 30 years ago – we used to always pick in October back then.”
“Make Earth Great Agin” is available in Brewdog’s craft beer bars worldwide, and can also be bought from the brewery’s online store.
Brewdog Founder James Watt said the product launch was prompted by the “declining interest from notable world leaders to the biggest issues facing our planet and civilisation.”
“Beer is a universal language, with the capacity to make an impact the world over, so we decided to make a statement and brew a beer that could have a direct, positive impact on climate change both through supporting an organisation making a difference.”
The drinks maker owns and operates just under 50 bars across the world, the largest of which is its brewery and taproom in Columbus, Ohio.
The protest comes just days after the brewing giant launched the fifth round of its Equity for Punks crowdfunding scheme.
The drinks maker wants to raise up to £50m in donations from fans, which will go towards its global expansion plans, including projects in the US as well as a crop of breweries in Asia and Australia.
So far, Brewdog has raised over £3m from almost 6,000 new investors.
Last month, founder Watt also suggested that Brewog could float on the New York Stock Exchange by 2020, following the company’s expansion into the US market.
