Château Léoube brings Provence to the Goffs London Sale

Château Léoube supplied the annual Goffs London Sale with its still and sparkling rosé wines for the fourth year in a row.

The event took place this year on 19 June at The Orangery in Kensington Palace, on the evening before the start of Royal Ascot. Featuring ‘high class horses in training and breeding stock’ over 1,200 attendees were treated to a taste of Provence at the private event.

Guests sampled Château Léoube’s sparkling rosé, which is unique in area, being made entirely from Cabernet Franc but produced as a white fizz using the traditional method, where secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle. It is also a Brut Zero which means the wine receives no added sugar. The blush-coloured fizz ‘has subtle notes of hazelnut, aniseed and soft fruit.’ Also on pour was the Rosé de Léoube with aromas of ‘honey, soft red fruits and mint,’ the latter, the Château states, evokes the wild herbs that surround its vineyards.

Château Léoube is owned by Britain’s Bamford family and produces a range of rosés as well as sparkling, white and red wines. It produces approximately 350,000 bottles of which roughly 268,000 are rosé and 15,000 are sparkling.

Known for its signature Provencal rosés, sales manager Jérôme Pernot told the drinks business that the estate was enjoying “huge growth” worldwide for its reds.
