Absolut sends Uber passengers on 24-hour Ibiza trip

Vodka brand Absolut has teamed up with the taxi app Uber to send four Londoners on a surprise, 24-hour trip to the party island of Ibiza.

As part of its #AbsolutNights promotion campaign, Absolut partnered with Uber to send a group of Uber app users in London on a surprise all-expenses-paid trip to the Balearic island.

For a chance to win, Uber users over 25 years old had to open the app, enter the promotional code ‘PRIVATEJET’, slide to ‘UberJet’ and successfully request a car on that morning in London’s zones 1, 2 and 3.

The competition was advertised on the Tube as well as in press media and Absolut’s social media channels.

There was one catch: the four users had only 30 minutes to grab their passport, choose a plus-one and head straight to the airport. From there they would be flown on a private jet to a surprise destination, which was revealed to be Ibiza – only after everyone was on the jet.

Four Londoners and their plus-ones took the chance. With a mixture of ages, personalities and backgrounds, the group found out they won at 10am on Friday morning, and with a now-or-never decision in front of them, they all decided to jump into the cars requested through Uber.

The eight participants met for the first time aboard the private jet, and were greeted by TV and radio presenter Arielle Free and Absolut’s global ambassador and mixologist Rico Dynan, who whisked them away for a 24-hours trip to Ibiza.

Once the jet touched down in Ibiza, the group was treated to experiences including a private yacht ride, followed by a visit to Blue Marlin, one of Ibiza’s most glamorous beach clubs. After a quick stop at the five-star hotel OD Talamanca, the group had dinner at open-air lounge KM5, then moved on to the nightclub Space for its last season before it closes permanently this autumn.

“We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better group,” commented Arielle Free. “We kept each step of the trip a surprise for everyone to keep them on their toes and they were ready join Rico and I to take on each surprise head first the whole way through, and I’m not ashamed to say that the guys out-partied us!”

“With this Absolut Nights trip we wanted to bring people together and celebrate the very essence of what makes great nights – creating memories by connecting with others,” said Jenny King of Absolut.

“Absolut Nights embodies spirit you take into nights where anything could happen, and the Absolut crew was so lucky to be joined by an incredible group of people who decided to take a leap and join us for such an epic night.”

Absolut Nights is part of Absolut’s ongoing campaign to transform the night to “push the boundaries for what to expect from a night out”. The platform launched in 2014, with four experiences in New York, Johannesburg, Berlin and Sao Paulo. Most recently, in 2015, Absolut launched the #AbsolutNights platform.
