Steven Spurrier’s wine launched in US

Steven Spurrier’s English sparkling wine, Bride Valley, has been launched in the US at Raymond Vineyards in the Napa Valley.

Boisset Collection will be the official US importer of Bride Valley and both Spurrier and Jean-Charles Boisset (pictured) attended the launch event on Sunday 15 May.

The event marked the first time Bride Valley has gone on sale in the US and, as 24 May will mark the 40th anniversary of the ‘Judgement of Paris’, a small blind tasting featuring Bride Valley and ‘JCB No.9 Russian River Valley Brut Blanc de Blancs’ was held in tribute.

Boisset commented: “Our dear friend Steven and his family had an endearing vision of producing sparkling wine on par with the world’s best in the chalky soils of England… At the time of his original vision as early as 2007, he recognised England’s potential for sparkling wine before the world had fully realised its potential.

“We encouraged him always, and are honoured and inspired to be his partner in importing Bride Valley to America… whether France, California or England, we are one world of wine.”

Bride Valley will officially launch in the US in January 2017 but until then a limited supply will be available at Raymond Vineyards’ tasting room at US$75 a bottle.
