Fine wine ‘shines’ at Bonhams

Burgundy and Bordeaux achieved top results at Bonhams’ recent London sale, which made £1 million in total.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti led the bidding, a case of 1988 Romanée-Conti making £111,625 and a further six bottles of 1999 Romanée-Conti £65,800.

In total the sale realised £1m and was 85% sold, although the Bordeaux section of the auction was completely sold out.

Bids for a case of 2010 Latour drove it to a hammer price of £8,460 and three cases of 2009 Latour sold for £7,755 each.

The Bordeaux part of the sale made £375,000 in total.

Richard Harvey MW, Bonhams’ international director of wine, commented: “This was a highly successful sale right across the board. Not only was the demand for Domaine de la Romanée-Conti particularly strong but the keen bidding on the exceptional private collection of en primeur Bordeaux ensured a ‘white glove’ sell out for this section of the sale.”
