Bar staffed by dogs pops up for one day

A pop-up bar staffed entirely by dogs is set to open in London later today for one night only.

A PR stunt for beer brand Kronenbourg 1664, Bar D’Alsace-tian will be tended by a team of trained Alsatian dogs, or “bark-tenders”, who will deliver bottles of beer to thirsty patrons via kegs strapped to harness around their necks.

The stunt has been timed to coincide with the launch of Kronenbourg’s new advert, which stars Eric Cantona and a pair of Alsatian dogs.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be opening the doors on the world’s first bar staffed by dogs,” said brand director Ifeoma Dozie. “It provides customers with a truly unique experience and is the ideal way for us to bring the ‘Alsace-tians’ to Kronenbourg fans.”

The bar will pop up for today only for two hours, between 6.30 and 8.30pm at Greek Street. But don’t expect to wander in for a pint post work. Reservations opened yesterday with the venue already fully booked. Those quick enough to grab a booking will receive two complimentary bottles of Kronenbourg 1664 and plates of bread and cheese.
