Cape crusaders: SA wine festival announced

Wines of South Africa have announced its annual Discover South African Wine festival in Hong Kong which will be held at Hotel Icon on 11 April.

Now in its second year, the Discover South African Wine festival is a month-long campaign running throughout April for Hong Kong’s trade and wine consumers to explore the diversity of South African wine.

Wines of South Africa (WOSA) will host a walk-around tasting at Hotel Icon on 11 April, showcasing over 120 wines and shining a spotlight on South African favourites, including Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Méthode Cap Classique.

Sommelier and restaurateur Neil Grant from the South African Sommelier Association will also lead a series of tasting sessions on different styles and grape varieties of South African wine at the festival, while Hotel Icon will host a happy hour and a wide range of South African wines by the glass in  The Green and The Market restaurants.

Tickets range from $240 to $380 per person and include a Lucaris glass, discount wine purchase voucher and $200 dining voucher at Hotel Icon.

Throughout the campaign, WOSA is inviting drinkers to tag a photo of their ‘South African wine moment’ with #drinkSA on Facebook or Instagram for a chance to win a Vintec Classic Series 18-bottle wine fridge.

For a full list of participating restaurants and more information, please visit the WOSA website. Tickets can also be bought here.
