Jack Daniel’s & Coke to be renamed a ‘Lemmy’

A petition to rename the Jack Daniel’s and Coke serve a “Lemmy” after the late Motörhead frontman’s favourite drink has drummed up 43,813 signatures.

Started by a Motörhead fan, the petition on Change.org is gathering pace, and is now just 6,187 signatures shy of its 50,000 target. “A Jack Daniel’s and Coke will forever be associated with Ian Fraser ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister, the iconic founder of Motörhead.

“To celebrate and remember one of rock and roll’s true legends, I ask everyone to henceforth and hereafter refer to the combination of Jack Daniel’s and Coke as a ‘Lemmy’. Let it be so,” said the campaign founder, who goes by the alias @GimmeaLemmy.

We at db support the campaigner in their plight, and hope the Lemmy becomes a common bar call. We also like the sound of a “Lemmy & Lime”.

The English singer, songwriter and bass player died on 28 December aged 70 just days after being diagnosed with cancer. Considered one of the linchpins of hard rock, over 230,000 people logged on to see Lemmy’s memorial service, which was streamed live on YouTube on 9 January.

While a diehard fan of Jack & Coke, Lemmy was also a wine lover and released a number of Motörhead-branded wines over the years, including an Australian Shiraz in a box shaped like an amp, along with a vodka and Bastards Lager.

Last September, Motörhead launched an own-brand single malt whiskey to celebrate 40 years in music, produced by Swedish distillery Mackmyra.
