Drambuie announce 5% profits

Drambuie has announced operating profits of £3.37 million to 20 June 2013, 5% up on last year.

The whisky liqueur also reported that net sales value per case improved by £1.10, while marketing investment was maintained at 40% of net sales value.

The company said its balance sheet “remains healthy”.

The UK was the best performing market, seeing 17% growth which was put down to the recent marketing campaign.

Meanwhile, the US market now has six brand ambassadors throughout the country and a senior regional director was appointed earlier this year. This year and next will see the roll-out of a new ad campaign in what Drambui terms its “most important market”.

Sales in emerging markets grew by 34% and new distributors were secured in Africa for Nigeria, Kenya and Angola. The company also launched a major marketing push in Vietnam.

Results were apparently, “very encouraging and provide a good base for building this market further in the coming year.”

Southern Europe levelled out and was only 1% down on last year.

Chief executive, Michael Kennedy, said: “Overall, this has been a positive year in the company’s quest to rebuild the Drambuie brand and we are in a good position to make progress in the forthcoming year.”
