Nino Franco photo competition

Prosecco maker Nino Franco recently held a photography competition, which asked the entrants to “submit a photo showing Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco Superiore DOCG to its best effect.”

Photographers also needed to provide a title and an artist’s statement of intent.

In a statement about the competition, Nino Franco said: “The standard of the entries was high, and judges were able to make their final selection by looking at both the technical excellence of the photo, as well as the prominence of the brand identity and appropriateness of the title and artistic statement.”

The overall winner and their partner are invited to spend two nights at the Villa Barberina in the heart of the Nino Franco Prosecco walled vineyard in the town centre of Valdobbiadene, Veneto. In addition to the V & B (Villa & Breakfast) a private wine tasting at the Nino Franco winery will enhance the experience.

Perfect Party Poppers

This photo was submitted by Scottish author Karon Grieve.

Artist’s statement: I have chosen this photo of the Nino Franco Rustico Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore corks as I feel that it illustrates the fun and luxury of the brand plus the texture and rustic feel of the Tuscan countryside.

Bacciare il Sole – Kiss the Su

This photograph was submitted by Kate Phillips.

Artist’s statement: This image was chosen as it captured the late afternoon light reminiscent of evening sundowners. I wanted to illustrate the satisfied exhale at the end of an every day, just cause for a bottle of Nino Franco Rustico Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore!

Liquid Spring

André de Silva submitted this entry.

Artist’s statement: As the day fades away in the Veneto, a warm breeze passes through our bodies and invites us to linger in the garden of Villa Barberina. We hear the popping sound of the Rustico Prosecco bottle opening and blissful glasses of the sparkling wine reach our hands. As we sip it, the fruity and flowery flavour of spring floods our bodies.

Prosecco, Clementines, Summer Heat

This photograph came from Monica Dix in Florida.

Artist’s statement: Every Sunday morning, in the deep south of Florida, my husband Daniel and I make Prosecco “mimosa” with fresh juice. After espresso and cooking breakfast, we let the Prosecco take us back to summer in Italy, even while our four daughters sprawl on the cool floor with blankets, books, and cartoons. For a moment, we are back on our open-ended bike trip, when he proposed to me in a restaurant in Firenze (who could say ‘no’?), and our daily cafe breakfast was pastry and coffee before we biked to the next Italian town. Then, and here, we surrender to the summer heat. Now, instead of hoarding our oranges and saving our Prosecco for special days of breakfast-in-bed, we have a ritual of fresh sparkling and sweetness. Every Sunday.

Rolling pins of fizz and new friends

This entry came from Sumayya Jamil.

Artist’s statement: Going alone to a course in a new place with new people is always a bit daunting as it is exciting. This photo illustrates how being surrounded by nature, diverse people and good fizzy wine can slowly peel away apprehensions, find common ground and create friendships that last a lifetime. This picture was composed using the many bottles of Nino Franco Prosecco that was consumed over the three days (there were more bottles, I didn’t use them all) – signifying how the beauty of natural Ireland, together with laughs and common interests bonds a group of strangers. The composition resembles bowling pins, as bowling a game that always makes you think of teamwork, friendship and fun; placed on natural pebbles that formed the drive way of the cottages we resided in. These bottles of Prosecco were our bonding element that weekend, created memories through teamwork and mutual love for good food, writing, photography – and of course, excellent fizzy wine.

Relax – it’s Nino Franco time

Anne Marie Caroll submitted this photograph.

Artist’s statement: Pull up a chair and relax with Nino Franco – I chose this picture to convey the message that there is always room at the table for one more guest.

Runner-up: There are many out there, but only one is the one Rustico

Lidija Basa from Slovenia was named runner-up for this photograph.

Winner – Rustico, Mineral like the bright sun

Susana Lourenco’s winning photograph in the Nino Franco photo contest.

Lourenco said: “This is how I envision Nino Franco Rustico: a mineral and sunny treasured Prosecco wine, enlivened by the ancestral fruity flavours of the Glera grapes and hidden from the lust of others.”
