Douro Boys release birthday blends

A Portuguese wine producers association dubbed the Douro Boys is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the launch of a wine and vintage Port.

The collection of quintas have collaborated to make just 750 magnums of Douro Boys Cuvée 2011, a red blend using wine from a “particularly expressive” cask at each of the five wineries in the group, which are Quinta do Vallado, Niepoort, Quinta do Crasto, Quinta Vale D. Maria and Quinta do Vale Meấo.

Similarly, The Douro Boys have chosen the most promising port cask from the 2011 vintage from each quinta to create a special release of just 250 magnums of Douro Boys Vintage Port 2011.

The releases will be auctioned by Christie’s wine auctioneer Peter Mansell at a birthday party on 13 September at Regua’s Aquapura Douro Valley Hotel.

The Douro Boys special releases will be packaged into fifty lots ranging from single bottles to 120-bottle parcels, with nearly every lot containing something extra, from an evening with Dirk Niepoort, or two tickets for a football match of FC Porto accompanied by the soccer enthusiast Tomás Roquette.
