New app available to TFWA delegates

The Tax Free World Association’s (TFWA) world exhibition opens in Cannes next week and delegates will have a host of online and touchscreen tools available to them.

A specially-designed TFWA world exhibition app has been created and is available for free download on iPhones and Blackberrys. The app gives delegates full exhibitor details, floor plans of the exhibition villages, on-site services and the full programme of the show.

The exhibition comes at a time when the travel retail market remains buoyant, although still wine sales did slump in 2011. Brown spirits remain the most important category in the travel retail sector, although with changing tastes and fresh, well-designed packaging, there is significant scope for white spirits as well.

Patron’s Greg Cohen said: “Consumers who travel and shop duty free recognise, appreciate and seek high-quality, luxury products.”

The Asia Pacific and Bric economies are driving significant growth in travel retail, although travellers from those areas going to Europe and the US are helping to preserve the importance of the latter markets.
