Paillard UK launch hopes to replicate US success

The UK launch of Champagne Bruno Paillard’s Brut Millésime Blanc de Blancs 1996 follows frenzied success in the US after the wine achieved 97 points in Wine Spectator.

Launched at the Champagne generic tasting in London last week, only 100 cases of the wine are available to the UK, through its agent Bibendum.

Monsieur Bruno Paillard told the drinks business last week that he was “very happy” with the response in the US and that he was delighted with the “ongoing freshness and elegance” of the 14-year-old wine, adding that only now has the wine had enough time to reach its “full potential”.

According to the house, 1996 was an atypical vintage in Champagne as the grapes retained both power and an exceptionally high level of acidity.

The wine is made from grand cru vineyards in Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger while the label has been produced by Italian designer Sandro Chia who worked on the theme of profondeur (depth) for the label.
