Why Bottega’s latest release was the toast of Vinitaly
Bottega unveiled its major innovations at Vinitaly last month, one in particular being the new Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cartizze Dry. db finds out why it was turning heads.

According to Bottega, Cartizze stood out for having been produced from grapes grown exclusively on the 108‐hectare Cartizze hill in Valdobbiadene where its steep, sun‐drenched slopes which benefit from warm summers and cold winters help create temperature variations that enhance complexity.
‘Authenticity’
Speaking to the drinks business, Bottega managing director Sandro Bottega said: “At Vinitaly, Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG was met with very positive feedback from both trade professionals and international visitors. It was frequently described as excellent and well-balanced, with many appreciating its elegance and the authenticity of its expression of the Valdobbiadene terroir, confirming the growing interest in high-quality Prosecco Superiore.”
Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cartizze Dry follows the traditional dry style and is pale straw‐yellow colour and sports a fine and persistent perlage, and offers up aromatics of white fruits enhanced by floral hints of orange blossom and peach flower.
Upon tasting the wine, David Round MW described it as having “a vigorous mousse with medium-sized bubbles” and noted that “the nose is open and expressive, with ripe, peachy fruit flecked with lemon peel and toasty notes”. Added to this, Round assessed that it had “flavours of tangerine and nectarine emerge on the palate, which is dry and fresh, with apple and brioche on the finish”. Ultimately, he revealed that it is “a dry wine with creamy texture, great balance and length”.
‘Aromatic finesse’
But what made it a real talking point at the show was not just how well it presented on first tastes, but also its potential with fine food pairings. Describing this, Bottega told db that “what makes this Prosecco particularly delicate and well-balanced is the careful selection of grapes from the steep hills of Valdobbiadene, combined with a precise winemaking approach that preserves freshness while enhancing aromatic finesse. The result is a harmonious wine with fine perlage, floral notes and a refined structure. Following tradition, our Cartizze is also vinified in a Dry style (around 22 g/l of residual sugar), a dosage that best expresses the distinctive characteristics of this unique terroir.”
For these reasons, he explained that this makes it excellent as an aperitif since it “pairs beautifully with soft, creamy cheeses, asparagus risotto with Morlacco cheese, and desserts featuring shortcrust pastry and vanilla cream”.
At the Bottega stand, visitors also tasted Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG in Brut and Extra Dry versions, as well as the Rive di Col San Martino Dry expression, showing the versatility that Bottega has to offer with a range that has something suitable for all palates and occasions.
