Wine influencer denies involvement in Chauvin witness’ house pig’s blood vandalism
A popular wine influencer says that she has been falsely accused of smearing pig’s blood on the house of a defence witness in the Derek Chauvin case.
Per a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, 35-year-old Amber Lucas, a popular ‘wine influencer’ on Instagram who boasts more than 12,000 followers, was arrested by Santa Rose police on 11 May along with two others – Rowan Dalbey, 20, and Kristen Aumoithe, 34, on felony vandalism charges.
The arrests followed an incident during which three individuals chucked a pig’s head and blood at the former home of Barry Brodd, an ex-police officer who testified on behalf of Chauvin during trial for the murder of George Floyd.
Amber Lucas is a well known wine influencer who has previously spoken out about sexism in the industry. In a statement provided to the San Francisco Chronicle, she denied involvement in the incident, maintaining that she had been falsely accused.
“I have been falsely accused of actions I would never do; that is not me, or what I stand for,” Lucas said.
“As a community leader, what I am enduring are the very actions that I stand and speak against, and actively denounce: the targeting of women of color, the abuse of power from law enforcement, and the attempt to silence voices of advocacy and truth. I am aware that I am on trial in two courts — including the one of public opinion. I understand this is an attempt to silence, and discredit me within my community, and nationwide.”
Last week, she posted a statement to her own popular Instagram page.
