London’s first winery launches winemaking club

Wine merchant and owner of urban winery London Cru, Roberson Wine, is offering wine enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in all aspects of making the 2019 vintage with the launch of The London Cru Crush Club.

Launched in 1991 by Cliff Roberson, the independent wine company has its own winery in central London.

Roberson Wine suggests that, unlike one-off winemaking experiences, the opportunity to be hands-on during the critical stages of production will give members an insight into what it takes to make a successful wine.

Members of the club will be invited to three exclusive events over the year, with the first taking place in Autumn 2019.

‘The Crush’ will offer participants the opportunity to taste, sort, de-stem and press the grapes.

The second event, ‘The Blend,’ will see members taste from each of the tanks and barrels to assess how the wine is progressing.  Roberson’s winemaker, Alex Hurley, will offer guidance on which elements are essential for creating a balanced wine.

Finally, ‘The Launch Party’ will give members the chance to taste and celebrate the bottled wine they have been involved in making.

Hurley enthused: “This is a brand new experience in London where members will help me stomp, crush and guide the grapes all the way through to bottling… and have a blast doing it!”

Limited to 30 participants per year, membership is priced at £195 per person, with each member also receiving three bottles of the wine produced by the club.  Further information can be found here.
