Momen, who joined Carlsberg as its chief financial officer in the UK in 2012, will be replaced by Tomasz Blawat, who is currently the CEO of Carlsberg in Poland.

The new executive staff structure will take effect in early-January 2019, to allow a thorough handover from Julian, according to a spokesperson.

While on the executive team at the brewer, Momen helped to shift Carlsberg’s marketing strategy to focus more on premium brands. He oversaw the growth of spanish label San Miguel, for example, securing the distribution rights to Brooklyn brewery’s craft beers in the UK and acquiring London Fields Brewery. He was previously working for private equity-backed Adelie Foods.

Momen is also a board member of the British Beer and Pub Association and marketing regulator the Portman Group.

His time at the company has seen “the UK business move to a significantly different place during the last six years, and especially during his tenure as CEO,” Chris Warmoth, executive vice president of Carlsberg western Europe, said.

“We wish Julian all the best in his future career. At the same time, we are pleased to be able to welcome Tomek, with his long and broad general management experience, to the UK business.”

His successor Bławat, who will take up the UK position in January, joined Carlsberg Poland as CEO in 2012. During his tenure, the company’s Polish business made “significant progress, strengthening its portfolio and market position, improving profitability, efficiency and effectiveness,” according to an emailed statement.

Prior to this he held several senior general management, sales and marketing roles with companies such as ING, SABmiller and Procter & Gamble.

Paul Davies, meanwhile, currently vice president of craft and speciality at Carlsberg Group, will take on the role of CEO in Poland.
