Are you mad enough to take on this 14kg Christmas meal?

Stockton-on-Tees’ The George Pub & Grill is offering a 16,500-calorie monster meal for £90, or for free if you can finish it before closing time.

The George Pub & Grill in County Durham is famous for producing extreme eating challenges.

In the past it has produced a 220oz Steak challenge, the UK’s Biggest Mixed Grill and Britain’s Tallest Burger.

This isn’t their first attempt at creating a hefty Christmas dinner though. In 2015 they beat the world record for biggest Christmas dinner ever. This current effort eclipses their previous record though.

The feast is fit for a giant, with a 5kg, 8,000-calorie turkey as its centrepiece. This is surrounded with 30 stuffing balls and 20 pigs-in-blankets.

As for potatoes, you’ll be looking at 1.8kg of mash and 1.4kg of roasties, with unlimited red wine gravy to wash that down.

The meal doesn’t end there, what Christmas meal is finished without a mountain of assorted roast vegetables?

Entrants into this gut-busting challenge must also eat the 3.6kg of vegetables. This includes green beans, carrots, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, roast parsnips, turnips and savoy cabbage.

If anyone manages to finish this monstrosity, they can be sure to expect an imminent food coma and winter hibernation period.

The pub’s owner Craig Harker, 31, is the evil genius behind this latest creation, and requires 24 hours notice so that he can order the turkey in.

According to an interview with Fox News, Harker says he’s had to hire an extra chef specifically to prepare this meal for those who wish to attempt it.

The turkey takes four hours to cook, and takes five hours to prepare.

Harker says he doesn’t want to lose great taste just because the meal is huge: “It is at least 20 times the size of a normal turkey dinner, but it’s all about flavour too.

“There’s no point in offering a plate full of food if it doesn’t taste good. The chef tastes it throughout and it is all seasoned accordingly.”

The pub has received criticism in the past for offering free meals to punters who weigh over 25 stone (159kg). Harker brushes this off as just a bit of fun though.

He says the challenge is “impossible”, but anyone crazy enough to attempt this beast will receive a certificate as proof of their madness, with the remainder of the food boxed up so that nothing goes to waste.

Groups of people are allowed to attempt the meal together if they wish to as well.

Harker reckons this is The George’s best challenge yet, but warns “it’s not for the faint-hearted.” He’s not wrong.
