Sports Cafe is first Bar to beat the clock
Venue will open all hours for rugby fans
THE SPORTS CAFE in London’s Haymarket will be the first UK bar to open 24 hours a day after it was granted a special license for the Rugby World Cup.
Coliseum Group, the bar’s owners, can now serve alcohol round the clock after magistrates granted two consecutive 21- day special licences to cover the first month of the tournament, starting on October 10, when matches will be played every day.
The Rugby World Cup is being held in Australia, which means games will kick off generally between 4.30am and 9am UK time.
Coliseum won the backing of the Metropolitan police after stressing that it plans to focus on corporate entertainment packages during the tournament, although sport fans arriving unannounced will be allowed in.
