F&M buying director to head up Thorman Hunt wine importers

UK-based wine importers Thorman Hunt has appointed a new managing director, taking on Tim French – former wine and spirits director at Fortnum & Mason.

French began his wine career at wine merchant Lea & Sandeman, and has spent the last thirteen years at London luxury retailer Fortnum & Mason, initially as its wine and spirits buyer. During this time one of his key objectives was the rejuvenation of its own-label range. For the last three years he has served as buying director of Fortnum & Mason.

Thorman Hunt was established in 1978 with the aim of importing the wines of French growers to the UK’s independent wine trade.

“I am very excited to be joining the Thorman Hunt team and also to be representing such an extraordinary range of unique growers”, said French. “I have always hugely admired the depth and integrity of their list and how they operate. It will be a privilege to work with the team to deliver the next chapter of this special business.”

The rest of the Thorman Hunt team remains the same.
