The Benevolent appoints four new trustees

Drinks industry charity The Benevolent has appointed four new trustees to help expand its engagement with the UK alcohol trade.

Among the new trustees is Diana Hunter of Conviviality Retail

The new trustees are Diana Hunter of Conviviality Plc, Guy Lawrence of Mast-Jägermeister UK, Rita Greenwood of William Grant & Sons UK and Simon Difford of Difford’s Guide.

Benevolent chairman Dan Townsend commented, “I am delighted to welcome the new Trustees to the Board. They are all well-known and highly respected and bring with them hugely relevant experience which will be invaluable at this crucial time in trade charity’s growth. Their appointment is a solid demonstration of The Benevolent’s commitment to on-going expansion and engagement with the wider UK drinks industry community.”

Chief executive David Cox commented, “I am very fortunate to be guided by a group of excellent Trustees who provide solid governance and expert advice and who understand implicitly the ethos of the charity. I am looking forward to working with our four new members of the Board immensely.”

Rita Greenwood has recently been appointed managing director for the UK & Ireland for William Grant & Sons and with Chris Mason moving to assume the responsibility as managing director of developed European markets. Chris has therefore taken the opportunity to step down as trustee of The Benevolent with immediate effect.

Both Townsend and Cox expressed their thanks to Chris, who has served the charity admirably for sixteen years and has been a past chairman.
