Six gold medal winning rosé wines under £20
Following The Global Rosé Masters earlier this year, we have picked out the sub £20 gold-medal-winning wines from the competition, with our top affordable drops hailing from Australia, Italy and Turkey, as well as France – including one new celebrity-backed brand from Provence.
TAYLORS ESTATE ROSÉ 2025

- Producer: Wakefield/Taylors Wines
- Region: South Australia
- Country: Australia
- Grape varieties: 81% Shiraz, 11% Pinot Gris, 5% Riesling, 3% Gewürztraminer
- ABV: 13%
- Residual sugar: 0.4g/l
- Approx. retail price: £12
This Aussie producer is seemingly incapable of making anything less than a lovely wine, even at relatively low prices. While best known for its whites and reds based on Chardonnay and Shiraz, this rosé is a lovely example of something a little different from down under. Mixing characters of ripe strawberry and sweet apple, with some dried mint, white pepper and sour cherry, it’s fruity but refreshing, with some fine phenolics on the finish to gently dry the palate. TRAMARI ROSÉ DI PRIMITIVO SALENTO 2025

- Producer: San Marzano Vini SpA
- Region: Puglia
- Country: Italy
- Grape variety: 100% Primitivo
- ABV: 12.5%
- Residual sugar: 7g/l
- Approx. retail price: £14.50
Produced from ancient clones of bush-trained Primitivo vines, some of which are over 60 years of age, this is an intriguing expression. Off-dry, the wine exhibits plenty of ripe strawberries and raspberries, and even a little of Primitivo’s signature brambles. Medium-bodied, the palate has lively acidity and a hint of tannic grip, suggesting a pairing for duck breasts, perhaps with a cherry sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
Le Grand de l’Amaurigue 2025

- Producer: Domaine de l’Amaurigue
- Region: Provence
- Country: France
- Vintage: 2025
- Grape varieties: 40% Grenache, 60% Cinsault
- ABV: 13%
- Residual sugar: 0.3g/l
- Approx. retail price: £20
- Medal: Gold
De Bortoli Wines Rutherglen Estate Rosé 2025

Partner Content
- Producer: De Bortoli Wines
- Region: Rutherglen
- Country: Australia
- Vintage: 2025
- Grape varieties: 37% Grenache, 27% Grenache Blanc, 19% Shiraz, 14% Mourvedre, 3% Other
- ABV: 12.5%
- Residual sugar: 1.65g/l
- Approx. retail price: £18
The grapes for this wine come from three of De Bortoli’s historic vineyards on the eastern edge of Rutherglen: Melville’s, Shelley’s and Burgoyne’s. The sites are renowned for producing savoury character, well-suited to the production of rosé wines. This example, very, very pale vieux-rose in colour, has bright red berry fruit with floral notes and gentle creamy oak. Dry, the palate flavours match the aromas and are balanced by brisk acidity with hints of baking spices and linen texture. A really attractive wine that will pair nicely with a Caesar salad and seared salmon. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
KAVAKLIDERE CÔTES D’AVANOS ROZE 2025

- Producer: Kavaklidere Saraplari
- Region: Central Anatolia
- Country: Turkey
- Grape variety: 100% Kalicek Karasi
- ABV: 14%
- Residual Sugar: 1g/l
- Approx. retail price: £19
Established by the And family in 1929, Kavaklidere is named after one of the districts in Ankara and today is one of the flag-bearers of Turkish wine. This example shows a pale gold colour with maybe just a hint of rose-gold, and delicate red berries and pomegranate accented by delicate creamy notes. The light-bodied palate exudes spicy oak notes overlaying the fruit and supported by lively acidity. A touch of tannin gives grip and suggests that Southeast Asian foods will be a good match. QUEEN CÔTES DE PROVENCE ROSÉ 2025

- Producer: Les Caves du Commandeur
- Region: Provence
- Country: France
- Grape varieties: 70% Grenache, 30% Cinsault
- ABV: 13%
- Residual sugar: 1.4g/l
- Approx. retail price: £18
Pale poached salmon pink, with aromas of red cherry and ripe pear. In the mouth, these fruit flavours are joined by notes of white-fleshed peach, wild strawberry, sweet apple and a touch of ruby grapefruit. This is a pleasingly soft rosé, but with an appealing juicy citrus note on the finish, which, when coupled with a subtle chalky texture, gives a dry, cleansing edge to what is a satisfying, slightly creamy, mouth-filling wine – the sort of rosé that made Provence famous, and bone-dry pink wine popular. In short, a high-quality addition to the category, and this year’s best still dry rosé under £20. (Patrick Schmitt MW)
