Milan and Palermo brewers join forces to release an Irish stout
Milanese brewer LA Brewery has collaborated with Sicily’s Palermo-based Dank Brewing to release an Irish stout named Folk Seal.
The 4.2% ABV beer has been noted as a genuine adaptation in style from Dank’s usual California-style west coast IPA releases as well as LA’s usual launches which tend to lean more towards the hazy, lager and pale beer styles.
Brewed with a malt, oats and wheat
Speaking about the beer, the brewers took to social media to describe Folk Seal and revealed that it had been brewed with a base of English pale malt and crystal malt, combined with a grain mix that also featured oats and wheat to give the beer a “smooth, velvety mouthfeel”.
Descriptions of the beer which is being sold through the Organic Beer web shop, the new brew offers up “prominent roasty notes of dark cocoa, toasted bread, and coffee, rounded out by a crisp, dry finish that keeps it highly sessionable”.
Well-known across the Italian craft beer scene
LA Brewery, which was founded in 2015 and has headquarters in Bernareggio, just north-east of Milan, has been connected to the Milanese craft beer scene through its online store, pop-ups and regional beer festivals since its early beginnings. Dank Brewing however, even though headquartered in Palermo in Sicily, is still operating primarily as a cuckoo brewery and produces its beers at the Blink Brewery facilities in Pesaro.
The beer will retail for €3.64 per 33cl can and is also available to bars in 20 litre kegs.
