Fells adds two South African family estates to its portfolio
UK importer Fells has expanded its South African range with the addition of Kaapzicht and Paul Clüver. Wines from both producers will be available from May as the company continues a period of steady portfolio development.

Fells has confirmed the appointment of two family-owned South African wineries, Kaapzicht of Stellenbosch and Paul Clüver of Elgin, to its portfolio. The wines will be available in the UK from May, marking what the company describes as a deliberate effort to build depth in its South African selection.
Managing director Euan Mackay said that expanding this segment has been a priority for more than a year. He explained that the search involved extensive tasting and discussion before identifying suitable partners, adding that both estates stood apart in their respective regions.
Regional definition at the fore
According to Mackay, the appeal lies in the distinctiveness of each producer’s focus. Kaapzicht is rooted in Stellenbosch, with a reputation built on Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, while Paul Clüver is associated with Elgin’s cooler conditions and its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Mackay said both wineries represent the leading edge of their regional styles and expressed anticipation at presenting the wines to Fells’ customer base.

Shared philosophy and long-term ambition

Paul Clüver, chief executive of Paul Clüver Family Wines, said the partnership reflects a shared approach to family ownership and enduring relationships. He added that the UK remains an important market for the estate and that Fells offers an opportunity to extend its presence while maintaining the character associated with Elgin wines.
Danie Steytler, owner and winemaker at Kaapzicht, said the estate is pleased to appoint Fells as its UK importer. He described the distributor’s understanding of the market and its commitment to terroir-driven wines as a strong fit, adding that the collaboration would support wider distribution in the UK.
Building on an established base
The two additions will join existing South African producers Warwick, Capensis and Vilafonté within the Fells portfolio. Mackay said the combination offers a complementary range of styles and price points, giving the importer broader coverage across the category.
This development follows other recent activity by the company. As reported by the drinks business, Fells became the exclusive UK distributor for Clarendelle wines from March 2026, extending its reach into Bordeaux through a partnership with Domaine Clarence Dillon.
