Wines of Georgia appoints Glodow Nead Communications as US PR partner

Wines of Georgia has appointed Glodow Nead Communications to lead its communications strategy in the US as the category continues to gain traction in the market.

Wines of Georgia has named Glodow Nead Communications as its PR and communications agency in the United States as the category continues to build momentum in the market.

The global communications agency will support the organisation’s efforts to promote Georgian wine in the US, where the category has recorded consistent growth despite declining overall wine consumption.

“We are looking forward to elevating the sales of wines from our homeland, which not only honor Georgia’s rich winemaking history but demonstrate distinctive contemporary appeal,” said Tamta Kvelaidze, head of marketing & PR at the National Wine Agency of Georgia.

“Glodow Nead Communications not only brings an in-depth understanding of wine to our campaign, but also the expertise to tell the story of our culture and values in the US.”

Building momentum in the US

Archaeological evidence has shown that Georgia is the birthplace of vitis vinifera, and the country’s wines have gained increasing recognition in the US over the past two decades as sommeliers and consumers have discovered the region’s traditions and its 30 protected wine appellations.

These include well-known mountain regions such as Kakheti, Kartli and Imereti.

Imports of Georgian wine to the US have grown steadily during a period when overall US wine consumption has been falling, underlining the category’s rising appeal among American drinkers.

Trade events and media outreach

Glodow Nead Communications will provide media support for Wines of Georgia across the US market. This will include promotion around the country’s inaugural National Wine Day celebration and conference in Tbilisi on 8 May.

The agency will also support national trade and consumer events including VinExpo Miami, the Food & Wine Classic Aspen and New York’s Karakterre, as well as coordinating visits to Georgia’s wine regions for trade and media.

By sharing stories from the country’s wine regions and producers, the partnership aims to further strengthen the reputation Georgian wines have built internationally over the past two decades.

“Georgian wines are singular,” said Jeff Nead, principal of Glodow Nead Communications.

“After spending some time in Georgia last year, we were struck by the compelling stories being shared by the country’s current generation of dynamic winemakers, stories that come through so clearly in their wines. The cultural tapestry they weave is one we cannot wait to share. We’re looking forward to working in tandem with our Georgian partners to raise these wines and their makers to new heights.”
