Winemakers’ Winemaker Award for 2026 to be announced at ProWein
The annual Winemakers’ Winemaker Award — which sees Master of Wine winemakers vote for their cellar-based role model — will be announced at a ceremony during ProWein on Monday 16 March.

Since 2011, the Institute of Masters of Wine and the drinks business have presented the accolade at the Düsseldorf-based trade fair. The award recognises outstanding achievement in winemaking and is decided by a panel comprising all Masters of Wine who are practising winemakers, alongside previous winners of the award.
Last year’s recipient was Stephen Henschke, fifth-generation winemaker at Henschke, one of Australia’s most celebrated wineries.
His achievement was marked with a drinks reception at ProWein, where guests were welcomed with a glass of Bollinger before sampling a selection of Henschke’s top wines, alongside bottles from supporters of the IMW.

The event is open to IMW members, as well as invited members of the wine press and drinks trade. Advance registration is required.
