Vranken-Pommery Monopole rebrands as Maison Pommery & Associés

The Champagne group will now trade under a new name, placing Pommery at the centre of its identity as it prepares to mark a series of major anniversaries.

Vranken-Pommery Monopole has announced it will operate under a new trading name, Maison Pommery & Associés, as it heads into what it describes as a “founding year” in 2026.

The change, effective ahead of next year, is designed to put the Pommery name and its legacy of innovation at the heart of the group’s identity, reflecting a renewed focus on premiumisation and long-term value creation.

A convergence of anniversaries

The rebrand coincides with several significant milestones across the group’s estates in 2026. These include the 190th anniversary of the creation of Champagne Pommery, the 50th anniversary of Champagne Vranken, the 40th anniversary of São Pedro das Águias in Portugal’s Douro Valley, and the 20th anniversary of Vranken Estates, which brings together the group’s vineyard holdings in Champagne, Provence, Camargue and Portugal.

According to the company, the rare alignment of anniversaries underlines the scale and cohesion of a family-owned group rooted in terroir and guided by a long-term vision.

Few producers have influenced the Champagne category as profoundly as Pommery. In 1874, Madame Pommery created what is recognised as the world’s first Brut Champagne, introducing a drier style that went on to shape global tastes. That balance between heritage and forward-looking thinking remains central to the house today.

Prestige cuvées and sustainability focus

The renewed emphasis on Pommery is reflected in recent and forthcoming releases, including Apanage 1874, a prestige cuvée created to mark the 150th anniversary of Brut Champagne. The wine draws on the house’s qualitative reserve and its Réserve Perpétuelle, and is positioned as a confidential cuvée dedicated to the culinary arts. The Apanage 1874 range now includes a Blanc de Blancs, with a Rosé scheduled for release later this year.

This momentum continues with the current debut of Cuvée Louise 2008, Pommery’s emblematic prestige cuvée, highlighting its focus on precision, ageing potential and terroir-driven expression.

Operating under the principle of la vérité du terroir, Maison Pommery & Associés says it prioritises biodiversity and environmental respect across its vineyards to express the purest character of each site. In 2025, this approach was recognised with the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant designation, which honours savoir-faire passed down through generations, from massal selection to traditional Champagne pressing, blending and hand-executed cellar work.

Based in Reims, the house’s historic chalk cellars are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site and have long linked wine with art and art de vivre. More than 20 years ago, Pommery launched Experience Pommery, the first contemporary art exhibition held in Champagne cellars, which now welcomes close to 200,000 visitors a year. In spring 2026, the estate will open its 19th exhibition, titled Liberty, marking what the group describes as a new chapter for the maison.

The rebrand comes after a period of portfolio reshaping for the group. In September last year, Vranken-Pommery Monopole entered exclusive talks to sell Heidsieck & Co Monopole to a subsidiary of Lanson-BCC, as part of a wider strategic refocus on its core brands.

With the transition to Maison Pommery & Associés, the group says it intends to honour its founding legacy while shaping the future of Champagne through elevated cuvées, gastronomic relevance, cultural engagement and a renewed global emphasis on the Pommery name.
