Beerhunter gives discounts to Brewdog Equity Punk investors
Online beer retailer Beerhunter has launched a new initiative aimed at Brewdog’s Equity Punk investors who are facing potential losses following the company’s recent takeover by Tilray Brands.

The scheme, named Pints for Punks, is set to offer an exclusive discount on Beerhunter’s range of beers to investors who have supported Brewdog through its Equity for Punks crowdfunding programme and have been prepared to lose out.
Brewdog’s most recent communication to its Equity for Punks shareholders said: “To all our Equity for Punks shareholders, thank you. Your belief, passion and investment helped build this business into what it is today. While the structure of the business changes, our gratitude does not. We would love to continue our relationship with this incredible community – to treat you as ambassadors for the brand and to honour the spirit of Equity for Punks. We intend to continue your key benefits, including bar and online discounts, tattoo discounts, and a free beer on your birthday, as well as hosting annual community events. We will work through the practical details in the coming weeks.”
Despite these reassurances, Beerhunter highlighted how thousands of beer fans had invested in Brewdog over the years through the initiative, which it suggested positioned drinkers as part-owners of the company. Despite this, the Greater Manchester-based retailer pointed out that following the recent acquisition by Tilray, many smaller investors still appear unlikely to see a return on their original investment.
Solidarity
While Beerhunter has said that it cannot compensate investors financially, its goal is for the campaign to be seen as a gesture of solidarity with members of the beer community who backed the Scottish brewery in its early years.

Beerhunter founder Ryan Smith said: “The recent Brewdog sale has undoubtedly left a bad taste for many Equity Punks who believed in the brand from the beginning. While we can’t replace their investment, we wanted to offer something positive back to the community that helped build the modern craft beer movement.”
Support independent producers
Smith explained: “Craft beer has always been about discovery, independence, and passionate drinkers supporting great breweries. Our Pints for Punks initiative is a small way to say thank you and encourage people to explore the wider world of craft beer.”
The Pints for Punks offer is available through Beerhunter’s website and Equity for Punk investors are advised to email [email protected] with a copy of their share certificate to receive their discount. According to Smith, the discount applies to a wide selection of beers from independent breweries across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
Beerhunter insisted that the campaign has been designed to encourage beer drinkers to explore new breweries and support independent producers.
