Radio X releases ‘Beer-Proof Parka’ ahead of pint-soaked Oasis reunion tour

With over two million pints expected to fly at Oasis gigs this summer, Radio X is stepping in to save fans from a lager shower – all while raising money for charity.

On 4 June, Radio X (an alternative/indie rock music station) launched a limited-edition ‘beer-proof parka’ in anticipation of a pint-slinging summer of music, with the Oasis reunion tour expected to soak more fans in lager than the average British downpour.

The campaign comes in response to new research revealing that a staggering 2.2 million pints are set to be launched into the air by euphoric fans during the band’s sold-out ‘Oasis Live ’25 Tour’. That’s around a quarter of the 8.6 million pints forecast to be bought at the shows – with an estimated £16.5 million in lost beer.

Branded by Radio X as the ultimate gig accessory, the £28 beer-proof parka is designed to shield fans from airborne beverages while keeping the Gallagher aesthetic intact. Just 250 units are available via the Radio X store, with all proceeds donated to the broadcaster’s charity, Global’s Make Some Noise.

Matt Deverson, managing editor of Radio X, said: “We’ve created limited edition Radio X packable parkas to keep you beer-proofed and looking good during this summer of live music – including the biggest reunion gig in history! Because when pints start flying, we want to make sure you’re not wearing them.”

Radio X Drive presenter Johnny Vaughan has already ‘dry-tested’ the parkas outside a London pub, declaring them fit for duty on the UK’s rowdiest fields.

The Oasis comeback is being billed as one of the biggest cultural moments of the year. According to the station’s research, 77% of fans said the reunion was one of the most exciting things to ever happen to them, with 37% claiming it rivals or surpasses their wedding day.

As excitement builds, Radio X has also launched Radio X Oasis — a new digital station playing wall-to-wall anthems by the Britpop legends, available nationwide on DAB and Global Player.

The Oasis Live ’25 Tour kicks off in Cardiff in just 30 days. Until then, fans can stay dry – and look sharp – thanks to Radio X’s parka drop.
