Drinks Trust launches £1m campaign to support industry colleagues

With the drinks industry under pressure, the Drinks Trust is rallying support for its bold £1 million campaign to assist those most in need.

The Drinks Trust has launched its ambitious “Face It Together” campaign, aiming to raise £1 million to support workers in the drinks hospitality sector facing financial hardship. The initiative comes as the industry grapples with rising costs, economic instability, and an uncertain employment outlook.

CEO Nicky Burston highlighted the stark realities for many in the sector: “Our colleagues’ financial resilience is at an all-time low, and the slightest drop in income for some can make the difference between being able to cope and sliding into poverty and debt.”

The campaign seeks to address growing concerns over economic pressures, with 22% of working-age adults predicted to experience poverty this year, according to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. For drinks industry workers, already hit hard by the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis, the situation remains critical.

Neil Barker, managing director of William Grant & Sons and chair of the Drinks Trust’s Board of Trustees, urged the industry to unite: “Despite the huge pressures we face across our sectors, there has never been a more important time to come together as an Industry and a Drinks Community and support our colleagues.”

Since its founding in 1886, The Drinks Trust has provided financial assistance, mental health support, and educational resources to those in the industry. The “Face It Together” campaign amplifies this mission, calling on professionals and businesses to contribute.

Strength in unity

With a sense of urgency and solidarity at its heart, the campaign asks the industry to reflect on its strength in unity. “The combined power of our efforts is our unique alchemy,” said Burston.

The Drinks Trust aims to ensure no one in the sector faces hardship alone. For more information or to donate, visit The Drinks Trust website.
