Le Gavroche announces Christmas residency
Though Le Gavroche closed its doors for the final time in January, Michel Roux Jr. will be resurrecting the famed London restaurant for one week in December.

Since the restaurant’s closure after 56 years of operating, Roux has kept the Le Gavroche brand alive, including via a partnership with Cunard cruise ships, and this latest pop-up will see Roux back behind the stove, though not of Le Gavroche’s old Upper Brook St address, but, instead, of his daughter Emily Roux’s restaurant Caractère in Notting Hill.
From 17 to 21 December, Roux will be cooking up a special festive four course menu for lunch and dinner:
Canapés (including Cornish crab and Imperial Oscietra caviar) with a glass of Pol Roger Brut Réserve NV
Roast wild sea bass with celeriac, trout and herring roe, and beurre blanc
Wagyu beef with hen of the wood mushroom, beetroot and black winter truffle
Warm chocolate mousse with Seville orange marmalade and salted caramel
Petit fours and coffee
This menu, with an additional ‘goodie bag’, will cost £185 per person, with an extra £85 cost for those who wish to try wine pairings as selected by Caractère sommelier Marco Nardi.
Interestingly, some of Le Gavroche’s signature dishes, including the soufflé Suissesse, have not made it onto this menu.
Although Roux is maintaining Le Gavroche as a brand, it was not long after the restaurant’s closure that he opened a new spot, with Chez Roux at The Langham hotel promising to offer a refined taste of the chef’s childhood in Kent.
Just as Roux worked closely with his father, and Le Gavroche co-founder, Albert Roux, he has collaborated with his daughter in a number of ways, including with a recent publicity stunt for English wine producer Chapel Down.
