Arsenal scores most expensive Premier League pint
A new study has revealed that Ipswich Town is the cheapest team to follow in the Premier League, with London’s Arsenal being the most expensive.
The data, collected by sports experts Flashscore, compared seven metrics that determine the cost of following your favourite team in the Premier League this season.
Alongside the food and drink prices in the stadium, it assessed the price of a home shirt in the club shop, and the cheapest season ticket available.
Ipswich Town came out top, with an average beer costing just £3.50. In second were Wolves and Brentford, where the average cost of a beer was £4 – although the overall second cheapest team including tickets and other goods was Southampton, where the price of a pint was £4.55.
At the same time, bitter North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham were the two most expensive teams to follow. A pint at Arsenal cost £6.30 and pies cost almost a fiver (£4.80). Spurs pint was considerably cheaper, at £5.10, but it performed poorly in other goods and ticket prices, with shirts costing £85.
Unsurprisingly, other London clubs also had expensive pints, with Chelsea coming in with the second most expensive, at £5.70, and a pie costing £4.50. Meanwhile, West Ham had the equal priciest pint with Arsenal, with a brew costing a fan £6.30 and a pie being one of the UK’s most expensive at £5.
Outside of London, Aston Villa was a surprising addition to being one of the most expensive teams to support. A pint at ground cost £5.20, which is above the average of £4.78.
