BBR launches limited-edition Coronation case

The UK’s oldest fine wine and spirits merchant, Berry Bros. & Rudd has launched a limited-edition case of wines to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The Coronation Case comprises six wines that have been picked by BBR’s Master of Wine, Barbara Drew, that reflect the style of wines feature on the 1953 menu from Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. It includes a Riesling, two Bordeaux selections and Pol Roger Champagne, that have been designed to accompany a meal, and is priced at £260.

Drew said the each wine had been selected to “represent a celebratory moment and, together, make a wine selection for a very special occasion.”

The line-up comprises a sherry, Bodegas Lustau, Amontillado del Castillo, Almacenista A. Caballero y Sobrinos, Jerez, Spain, 50cl; a 2021 Riesling, Trocken, Eva Fricke, Rheingau, Germany, 75cl; 2015 Champagne Pol Roger, Blanc de Blancs, Brut, 75cl;  2019 Berry Bros. & Rudd Pauillac by Château Lynch-Bages, Bordeaux, 75cl; 2006 Château Suduiraut, Sauternes, Bordeaux, 75cl and a 2007 Quinta do Noval, Colheita, Port, Portugal, 75cl.

The family-owned wine merchant, which this year celebrates it 325 anniversary, has seen a few coronations during its long history. Having been founded while William III and Mary II were on the throne, this will be its 12th coronation (and its 14th monarch).
