Champagne Pommery launches new World Collection in time for Christmas
Vranken Pommery has launched its latest World Collection, named Mandala and inspired by Tibetan Buddhist traditions, complete with a new vintage Champagne release.
The new giftbox collection includes the maison’s Pommery Brut Royal, Pommery Rosé Royal, Pommery Apanage Brut and Pommery Apanage Blanc de Blancs all available in packaging which reflects the colourful mandalas of Tibet. The Tibetan mandala is usually illustrated as a geometric design and often incorporates a deity. The mandala serves as a tool for guiding individuals along the path to enlightenment. These drawings originate from Buddhism, and are used in meditation.
The collection also features the Champagne House’s latest release – the Grand Cru Royal Millesime 2009 – crafted from seven of Pommery’s iconic grand crus. The wine is made up of a blend of equal proportions Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir of the Montagne de Reims.
Julien Lonneux, Vranken Pommery UK CEO, called the collection “a personal favourite as I know just how much art meant to Madame Pommery”.
He added: “She had a passion for art from all around the world, which is also reflected at our Domaine in Reims. The mandala truly represents Pommery Champagne Cuvées, balanced and absolute perfection. In 1858, when Madame Pommery took over as head of Pommery & Greno after the death of her husband, she based the expansion of her House on the creation of wines unlike any others, with one constant demand: ‘quality pushed to the extreme’.”
Clément Pierlot, the tenth Pommery cellar master, is responsible for creating maison’s signature style.
Since 2014, the Pommery vineyards have held the double label ‘Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne’ and ‘High Value Environmental’.
Pommery is also a producer of English wine through its Pinglestone Estate in Hampshire, and was the first Champagne house to release its own English Sparkling Wine. The estate reported a high quality harvest of its grapes this year. Read more about that here.
