Milano Wine Week returns

Milano Wine Week (MWW) returns for its fifth edition from 8 to 16 October, but the extravaganza will also be taking place far beyond the Italian metropolis.

After two years of restrictions, the city has reopened and will become an international hub for the global wine community. Among the hundreds of events taking place all over Milan are cruising the canals on the Chianti Wine Boat and wine tasting in the shadow of the Duomo.

Indeed, whole neighbourhoods will be transformed to showcase the best of Italian wine. Six of these districts, paired with as many Italian wine consortia, will display what each appellation has to offer, with walk-through tastings, live performances and other special events in store. Bars and restaurants across Milan will also have special menus, from fine dining to rustic cooking, designed to celebrate the relationship between wine and food.

Two major MMW headquarters in the heart of the city, the historic Palazzo Serbelloni and Palazzo Bovara, both on Corso Venezia, will host hundreds of tastings and networking events. They will also be holding Italy’s largest back-to-back program of masterclasses, forums, industry awards, and much more. While it may seem like a lot to take in, MWW’s app “W” will help you to navigate, while also providing exclusive content from the event.

Thanks to the support of the Italian Trade Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 2022 edition will also be the first to have a large delegation of foreign buyers, wine authorities and press, putting the event on the world stage.

But for those who cannot make it to Lombardy, there is an international program of events to mark the occasion. Eight cities in six countries (the UK, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, China and Japan) will be hosting tastings and other events. the drinks business will be running masterclasses in London and Hong Kong during the week. Many of these events will be accessible remotely via livestreams and recordings.

MWW president Federico Gordini says: “The entire wine world is invited to join us. This is the year to experience everything Milan has to offer.”
