The week in pictures

This week in the world of drinks: Glencairn Crystal wins Exporter of the Year Award, Bord Bia hosts Irish spirits event at the Irish Embassy in London, and a Bowie-inspired bar opens in Soho.

Glencairn Crystal won Exporter of the Year Award for sales of the Glencairn Glass earlier this week at the China Scotland Business Awards. The family-owned business won the Exporter of the Year award for its exponential growth in sales of the Glencairn Glass.

At a recent event in London’s Irish embassy, Bord Bia hosted its popular Meet the Makers, Meet the Shakers evening, celebrating the very best of Irish spirits.

Award-winning bartender Rob Simpson was on hand to mix three specially-crafted cocktails aimed at demonstrating the quality of Irish spirits ahead of St Patrick’s Day.

And a very special opening on Soho’s Great Windmill Street sees a bar, cafe and recording studio concept inspired by the many faces of David Bowie take centre stage.

The Thin White Duke is an all-day drinking and dining venue to work, play and create, offering cocktails and cicchetti alongside recording studios for members.

The venue opens its doors to the public on 15 March.
