Hooters has been in the news a fair bit lately. Last year, the chain came under fire after it introduced a new uniform for female members of staff that was blasted as “sexist” by the waitresses who were expected to wear it.

That episode lead to people becoming increasingly aware of Hooters waitress’ popular TikTok accounts, where they reveal behind-the-scenes secrets about working life at the restaurant chain.

And earlier this week, we reported the news that a second Hooters restaurant location would be opening in the UK, with the Liverpool City Centre venue joining the previously solitary Nottingham outpost.

Now, a Hooters waitress has revealed the most she’s ever earned during a single shift at the restaurant chain, as well as how much she would expect to make on a typical night at work,

Jade Amber regularly posts about Hooters life on her popular YouTube channel – and in a recent video she discussed tipping culture at Hooters, as well as how much she tends to make from tips.

“My worst night or day would be like $25 to $50 and that’s the worst case scenario, ok.” She said.

“Normally on those nights, I was cut or sent home because we were very slow and it was during a very slow season.

“Those days are super rare but they do happen.

“An ok day would be like $95 to $125 because it’s, like, ‘Ok I made this amount of money but I know I can make more. But there were super bad days it’s, like, ‘Ok at least I made money’”.

As for the best days?

On a great day at Hooters I would make anywhere from like $150 to… it ranges honestly… like $150 to $400.

“I want to say really, really good days are like $500. The most I’ve ever made at Hooters is $900. One day I worked a double, I was a bartender in the morning and then I served.”

At a time when tipping culture is very much in the spotlight, as hospitality venues attempt to rebuild themselves and staff who found themselves out of work during the pandemic look to rebuild their careers, it’s interesting to note how it works at a chain like Hooters.
