Bono, The Edge and Hozier invest in Wicklow craft brewery

U2’s Bono and The Edge invested in Wicklow craft brewery alongside Hozier.

Wicklow Wolf Craft Brewing Company is the name of the business, and Bono, The Edge and Hozier are only a few of the investors. The brewery’s founders – Quincey Fennelly and Simon Lynch – have raised over €2 million in funding. In fact, since its opening in 2014, it has issued new shares for almost €2.4 million.

According to The Currency, Bono (Paul Hewson) and The Edge (David Howell Evans) invested €327,000 between them, while Hozier (Andrew Hozier-Byrne) – Wicklow native – invested almost €110,000.

However, the highest investment came from Zatrix Holdings, a company managed by Mary Ann O’Brien, the founder of chocolate maker Lily O’Brien’s.

Wicklow Wolf Brewing invested €4 million in a brewery in Newtown Mount Kennedy in 2019, which was funded thanks to a €2 million equity raise. Furthermore, Enterprise Ireland invested in the company too in recent years.

The history of Wicklow Wolf Craft Brewing starts, as mentioned earlier, with Quincey Fennelly. He is from a well-known Mountmellick family, and he has considerable experience in the drinks industry. After living in San Francisco for a few years, he returned to Ireland, where he set up the brewery business. It has now a range of craft beers available to buy across the country.

Before the pandemic, the company was also giving tours of the brewery, which will resume once the restrictions are lifted completely.

With the financial help coming from Bono, The Edge and Hozier, Wicklow Wolf Craft Brewing Company has gained more popularity, for sure helping after the difficulties caused by the pandemic.
