Guinness launches £750 home beer tap in time for Christmas

There’s nothing worse than ordering a Guinness at the pub and getting handed a pint that isn’t quite right. You can now try your hand at pouring the perfect Guinness from the comfort of home.

Guinness Microdraft: Guinness launches £750 home tap for Christmas

The Irish stout brewer has come out with a limited edition at-home Guinness tap to serve draught pints from the sofa this Christmas.

The home tap follows the successful roll out of the technology in pubs, bars and restaurants across the UK earlier this year.

Use of the new technology is simple. A Guinness Microdraft can is inserted into the pint puller, and the technology itself guides the user on how to conduct the perfect two-part pour.

Two years in the making, the company claims that the latest launch is the biggest innovation since the invention of the Guinness widget 30 years ago. The widget is a hollow plastic sphere found in Guinness cans to manage the characteristics of the beer’s head.

“After two years in development we are incredibly excited to bring our Guinness Microdraft technology to homes this Christmas, marking a milestone moment of continued innovation for the brand,” said head of Guinness GB, Neil Shah.

“Guinness Microdraft enables people to enjoy a beautiful looking and delicious tasting Draught Guinness on tap in a completely new setting for the first time ever.

“Whether it’s to pour the perfect drink at a festive gathering, a Christmas gift for a friend or family member, or simply to enjoy an iconic drink of the black stuff at home with loved ones, Guinness Microdraft is sure to be a hit among beer lovers.”

The Guinness Microdraft Bar Tap will be available to purchase for £750 from 6 December. It will arrive with four Guinness Microdraft cans and two Guinness pint glasses.

With Christmas products already jockeying for position in the aisles, Guinness has entered the fray with a Kentucky Bourbon barrel-aged Chocolate Mint Stout ready to kick off your festive fun. Read more on that here.
