HK sommelier Wallace Lo joins Somm’s Philosophy

Hong Kong-born sommelier Wallace Lo joins wine consultancy service Somm’s Philosophy as partner.

An acclaimed sommelier based in Hong Kong, Lo was the winner of The Best Sommelier of Greater China 2013,  first-runner-up of “ASI The Best Sommelier of Asia & Oceania 2015” (representing Hong Kong and China), and ranked 23rd at the “ASI The Best Sommelier of the World 2016”.

In 2019, he achieved the accolade of Advance Sommelier by Court of Master Sommelier. He has serviced in various restaurants and hospitality groups in Hong Kong, including Octavium Italian Restaurant, Haku and Le Comptoir Group, and has curated award-winning wine lists for some of these premises.

Reeze Choi, founder of Somm’s Philosophy, commented on the announcement: “I have known Wallace for six years, and our enthusiasm for wine, work, and service collides. Somm’s Philosophy Limited was established in 2020 by Choi, who is one of the most sought-after sommeliers in Asia. He is an Advanced Sommelier of The Count of Master Sommeliers, holder of A.S.I diploma – Gold, WSET Level Three Award in Wines and the Certified Specialist of Wine Certification. Choi finished in the 16th of the 2019 Best Sommelier of the World Competition, and in the 1st runner-up of A.S.I. Asia-Oceania Best Sommelier Competition 2018. He also holds the Championship of The Best Sommelier Greater China in 2016 and 2017 and the Championship of Hong Kong Best Sommelier Competition in 2019. He has worked at renowned restaurants such as L’atelier de Joël Robuchon Hong Kong and Upper Modern Bistro.
